Jose S asked:

Could they switched from the 747-100/200/300/SP to the 747-400 or from the DC-10 to the MD-11, if the airline decides to retire its whole classic fleet and decides only to maintain newer aircraft?

Mach 10 asked:

I was wondering if you are able to log hours that count towards your FAA requirements in an ultralight aircraft? I am currently 17 years old and planning to obtain my PPL, but was wondering if i can do so, i might just buy one since they are so cheap. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Question about United Airlines changing the colors on their aircraft?

Kim K asked:

I wonder, why did United Airlines switch their colors from gray and blue, to white and different shades of blue? I like the lighter colors though, just curious why the company decided to give their aircraft a new look.
To the person who made the ‘disguise’ remark, I asked the question because I’m an aviation buff.
I am interested in those details about airlines, because I sometimes build models and I also go out and ‘flight-spot’ whenever I can.

How do aircraft manuvers work? (from a physics point of view)?

DonaldDuck asked:

I am currently doing a research project for a physics course on how airplanes maneuver. Throughout the course of my research, I came across the following terms: Alleron, Flap, Elevator, Vertical Stabilizer.

I understand that these maneuver controls work by either shifting up/down or left/right, but I don’t know _HOW_ they work. For example, when the elevator shifts down, what happens to the air molecules that causes the plane to dive down? or why the plane roll to the left when the left alleron rises up and the right one shifts down?

Also, do all aircraft have the same maneuvers? How would the maneuver controls differ from say.. a fighter jet and a commercial boeing 747?

Help! asked:

I’m moving out to SD soon and wanted to know what aviation/contract companies are out there; on base especially.

I’ve got a background working in the navy in maintenance controll with aircraft log books and such. I’ve worked for Lockheed Martin where they use much of the same system as the Navy.

Need help! Thanks!

I’ve been looking, but thought I’d ask on here too!

Thanks!

What is smoother, a v6 engine or a water cooled, radial aircraft engine? I know it is nutty question?

julio_slsc asked:

What can I say, I am curious.

I wonder if a radial 7 cylinder engine makes power with greater smoothness than a V-6 car engine. Yes I know, a V-12 aircraft engine is smoother than both.

Call up your grandpas from WWII if you can to answer this one. Those old guys know everything.
